This historic early 1900's building is close to the College of Charleston, MUSC and the vibrant, popular upper King Street area. It has attractive fireplaces, and piazzas and the feel of a bygone time. However, it is fully renovated with modern conveniences so it offers the best of both worlds. Each apartment is a separate unit and has its own qualities. It is the perfect opportunity for groups of all sizes to organize a joint rental but each apartment is separate and its own place. Apartment "A1" ENTRANCE Enter through the front porch into a gracious living room with period (non-working) fireplace, flat screen tv with full range of Comcast channels, sofa bed, high ceilings, graceful bay window and pretty parquet floors. BEDROOM 1 The double doors open to another gracious room with fireplace (non-working), Murphy queen-bed, closet, hardwood floors. These two rooms formed a typical Charleston double parlor in by-gone days. Today we have set them up as entertaining space but our flexible plan offers our guests two rooms for sleeping (the front room with a sofa sleeper and the one next to it with popular Murphy bed and double locking doors) BATH 1 Both rooms can use the all new "Euro-style" bathroom in the hall that offers a pedestal sink, toilet and overhead or handheld shower. This bath can be used by guests using the front room sofa bed or by bedroom 1. Bedroom 1 also has access to BATHROOM 2 between bedroom 1 and bedroom 2. BATH 2 This brand new bathroom with glass shower, hardwood floor, marble counter and stylish vanity is situated between bedroom 1 and bedroom 2. BEDROOM 2 has a king bed, closet with storage, dressing table and direct access to bath 2. It can also be entered from the kitchen. BEDROOM 3 is in the rear of the apartment with another king bed, dressing room with washer/dryer and closet and ensuite BATH 3 with gorgeous, spacious glass shower and linen storage. KITCHEN The beautiful all new kItchen with gleaming white cabinets runs along the south side of the apartment. It features all new cabinets, all new appliances, gorgeous quartz counter, full supply of kitchen gadgets, and utensils, dishes and silverware, cookware and entertaining supplies. The attractive table can seat 6-8 people. The kitchen is a great gathering space for socializing and cooking. The FRONT ROOM is the main socializing space with its swivel chairs, comfortable sofa, period fireplace and pretty bay-window overlooking the charming FRONT PORCH where you will enjoy your morning coffee or watch the world go by as you sip your afternoon cocktail. Apartment "A2" LIVING The apartment is entered into the "gathering" space consisting of a living room with brand new queen, gel mattress sofa bed, attractive chairs and a gracious dining table with chairs. The dining area creates an "L" leading into the well stocked kitchen with quartz counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The brand new kitchen is gorgeous and well supplied. From the courtyard and parking area you enter the charming porch and then the living room. The porch is dedicated to this apartment and provides a pleasant place for reading the paper with your morning coffee or sipping an evening cocktail. There are two lovely BEDROOMS, one with ensuite bathroom and one with the bathroom right across the hall. It is a private bathroom but also is available as a guest bathroom if the sofa bed is used. The bathrooms feature marble and shiplap siding and all brand new fixtures. The washer/dryer is found in the back bedroom. The bedrooms are stylish and attractive with brand new bedding and high end linens. Both bedrooms have brand new KING size beds. It is possible to add an extra person or two on the sofa bed and use the second bathroom but a special feature of this apartment is the chance for each couple to have their own private bathroom. It depends on your needs. The courtyard is like a secret garden, tucked away from the street. It is available to several apartments creating a space where you can be with others in your group who are renting different apartments or you might have the opportunity to socialize and meet fellow travelers. Apartment "A3" Overlooking historic St Philip St. and one block from vibrant King St. this spacious, newly renovated apartment is perfect for couples or families. The apartment is on the second floor. It consists of 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a gracious living room, a galley kitchen with eating area and a charming porch overlooking St Philip St. BEDROOM 1 connects to the living room but is afforded privacy with locking double doors. The opening makes for a gracious entertaining area as the bedroom has a lovely Stella brass bed, beautiful fireplace with original tiles and handsome art. The LIVING ROOM has 4 swivel chairs, with a West Elm queen sofa sleeper with high end gel mattress, a corner fireplace with attractive, original tiles and a flat screen tv above it. The bay windows overlook the porch. The room can be completed closed off to provide a 4th private sleeping space. The front BATHROOM is small. It has what we call a European shower in that the room is fully tiled and serves as the shower. The dramatic rain shower with additional handheld fixture is beautiful, works well and complements the lovely marble floor. The Toto toilet is built into the wall and the lovely sink makes use of an old stair wall. We don't want anyone to be surprised or disappointed by this bathroom. It is small but clever and it provides everything you need. The second BATHROOM is at the other end of the hall. It has a large tiled shower, a large linen closet, a charming corner sink and a storage cabinet. Both bathrooms are available to the three bedrooms. The second BEDROOM has a brand new king size bed with a large closet and a writing table. It is in the "mid-century" style with a large, dynamic piece of art over the bed. It has a roomy closet. The third BEDROOM holds a queen bed, two nightstands with with reading lamps. It is at the end of the apartment next to the larger bathroom. Its closet with a chest of drawers is across from the washer/dryer shown in the photo. It is smaller than the other two bedrooms but comfortably holds a nice queen bed. This house gives you the unique opportunity to house your group in one building. And after that to house your group in multiple properties in one location. At SaintPhilipSquare we have parking, lots of bedrooms and new bathrooms, great gathering rooms, porches, all within steps of King Street! This building received the Carolopolis Award for historic preservation in 1999 and belongs to a collection of important, historic buildings. Not all the buildings that you see photographed are of equal quality. The Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood has become the hottest, most vibrant area in town. The list of popular restaurants is amazing. The Grocery, Indaco, Chez Nous, Wild Flour Bakery, The Macintosh, Sugar Bake Shop, Cannon Green, Goulette Bistro, D'Alessandros Piazza, Fuel, The Darling Oyster, Stellas are in walking distance. You can find anything that suits your fancy just StepsAway from SaintPhilipSquare! There are also shops and boutiques in walking distance-- West Elm, Beads on Cannon, Filigree, Mac and Murphy, Indigo and Cotton. There are day spas, salons and nearby yoga studios. The College of Charleston campus with live oaks dripping with Sapnish moss is a few blocks south. The Marion Square market held every Saturday is also a few blocks as is the popular Childrens' museums However, if the beach calls you, you can easily access highway 17 north to Sullivans Island and the Isle of Palms or south to Folly Beach, Kiawah Island or Wadmalaw Island. That route will also take you to the famous plantations and historic houses (Drayton Hall, Middleton Place, Magnolia Gardens)
