One short block to historic downtown Charleston’s bustling King Street, our Carolopolis Award winning John Bulow House was build in the late 1800’s before undergoing a full renovation in 1996. Carefully marrying new with nostalgia, we lovingly maintained historic details while incorporating modern amenities.
With room for the family or group travelers, our second-floor A3 apartment features three bedrooms and two full baths. Enter through the gathering space featuring professional decor and, if of interest, a queen-sized sofa bed.
The first bedroom houses a queen bed and connects to the living room but is afforded privacy with two locking double doors. The front bathroom maximizes small space with a European shower complete with rain shower-head.
The second bedroom down the hall has a spacious king bed with the third bedroom close by and its queen bed. The back two bedrooms are closest to the second bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower.
Step outside onto your charming porch or enjoy an evening cocktail in our private, recently revamped courtyard.
As our guest, you’ll be given convenient parking and a delightfully unique space to call your own during your Charleston getaway that is mere steps away from all that historic downtown has to offer.
Amenities
Location
Nested within the vibrant Cannonborough neighborhood, St. Philip Square is a collection of 6 restored historic homes with a spacious shared courtyard that span an entire city square block of downtown Charleston.
Sitting neatly between Morris and Cannon Street, St. Philip Square is one short block from the hustle, bustle, wining and dining of Charleston’s famous King Street. Idyllically situated, we are less than half a mile to Calhoun Street and a stone’s throw from South of Broad. In short, location, location, location…
With our abodes originally dating back the early 1800s, St. Philip Square was carefully, intentionally and respectfully renovated by the end of 2020. Showing remarkable reverence for local history and devotion to the Lowcountry lifestyle, our accommodations have earned 5 coveted Carolopolis Awards from The Preservation Society and the esteemed Governor’s Award.
Acquired in the early 1990’s, St. Philip Square was grandfathered into offering permitted short-term vacation rentals by the City of Charleston. A rarity across downtown, this legacy allows our guests to experience the comfort of private luxury accommodations alongside the experience of true community immersion.
With an unprecedented walk score of 96, most guests leave their cars in our spacious, protected parking area and easily stroll down to the restaurants, bars, boutiques, galleries and more mere steps away from their suite.

We were a group of 3 long time friends that get together once a year and try to visit some where new each time. Had a great time in Charleston. The city is rather rambunctious from all the young college students who like to party late!

This was a beautifully restored second-floor unit with three bedrooms and two baths. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Beautifully decorated - a real haven for us. Five ladies comfortably stayed in this unit for a mother-daughter long weekend. The beds were very comfortable and the linens simply lovely. You are able to walk to many stores, however if you want to get to the heart of the shopping district, you may need to drive. We drove to the central part of the tourist section and parked in the garage since two of the ladies have difficulty walking more than half a mile. If you can handle a walk of a mile or two, you are definitely within walking distance of the attractions. Sitting on the second-floor balcony was so enjoyable. We spent our early mornings and late evenings on the balcony each day. I strongly recommend the professionalism of this owner.

Absolutely perfect place for 8 girls to stay for the weekend. There are 2 queen beds a sleeper sofa and only 1 king size bed. There are also a full set of stairs heading up to the apartment. It is in a wonderfully beautiful and safe neighborhood! We walked everywhere.

The house was perfect for our girls trip. Lots of places to hang out and room to move around. Bedrooms were comfortable and the house is in an ideal location for going out to dinner or grabbing drinks. Just a short walk away from shopping and the waterfront. The parking was easy and supper helpful to have of street parking.

The second floor apartment was very comfortable and furnished like a West Elm store! We had a family of 4 and had lots of room to spread out. We did not use the kitchen but it has everything you need. The location is close to everything in Charleston.
